my STORY
I help busy Christian women find practical ways to grow closer to Jesus.

hey, i’m susannah
I’m so thankful you’ve found my little corner of the internet. I’m a PNW mama, recently resigned teacher, part time blogger and full time Jesus follower. And I can’t wait to be your new best friend for practical ways we can live out our faith. ✨
Here, you’ll get an honest look at the hills and valleys of Christian life. From the mundane moments of motherhood to the details of my devotional time – whatever God is doing in my life, I’m going to tell you about it. The goal is to share what He has placed on my heart in the hopes that it will strike a chord in yours.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
my testimony
I grew up in Northern California with four kids and two adults tiptoe-ing around each other in a 3-bedroom house. My parents were both Christian and did the usual things like praying before meals and attending church nearly every Sunday. Which is why it’s probably no surprise that I chose to follow Jesus as a six-year-old, standing on a kitchen chair so I could get closer to God to make sure he heard me ask him into my heart.
After that, I tried my best to make better choices, to love others well, and to deal gracefully with the daily frustrations that came with a host of mental health issues different family members had. I attended youth group, served in Kids Ministry, read my Bible, was baptized, participated in discipleship and really took the whole Jesus thing to heart. I will forever be grateful for the strong foundation God built in my life to keep me grounded through what he did next.
Just days before I was scheduled to drive off to my dreams and start college, my dad passed away suddenly. As my family slowly started to figure out a new normal, I was able to start my studies, met and married a wonderful man, and graduated on time with my class. During those few years away at school, my brother was diagnosed with cancer, my sister was hospitalized, and my mom suffered a health setback.
If this all sounds like a lot…it is. Or at least, it was. But none of those things shook my faith. None of those things made me believe any less in God’s goodness, faithfulness, and providence. Then, now, forever, Christ is a solid rock on which I can stand, lean, cry, pray, grieve, celebrate, and everything in between. God has allowed heavy circumstances to shape my heart to be more like his, and for that I am glad. His Word is good. His promises are true. His love will always find me.
My day to day looks like…
- Loving life with my husband Caleb who is the most supportive man
- Enjoying (almost) every moment as a new mom to our son Judah who is the sweetest boy ever
- Sneaking in time to work on this blog and creating for my Etsy shop
- Working from home as the Kids Ministry Coordinator for our church
- Minimizing, simplifying, and decluttering to create a space we love to live in
- Trying to balance all things motherhood, practical steps in faith, and caring for myself as a human
